Qualifications

SUMMARY OF QUALIFICATIONS

Mr. Strickler is a registered Professional Geologist in the states of Oregon and Washington with over 29 years of experience in geology, hydrogeology, and environmental compliance. He has managed all aspects of geologic, hydrogeologic, and remedial investigations at industrial and manufacturing sites, wood treatment facilities, petroleum distribution operations, and municipal solid waste disposal sites.

He works directly with clients, regulatory agencies, and subcontractors to ensure completion of all phases of the project. Mr. Strickler has also performed dozens of phase I audits throughout the western United States. Mr. Strickler has experience in project management, client communication, regulatory negotiation and communication, field program design and implementation, field data acquisition and reduction, laboratory data validation and interpretation, and all phases of report preparation. He has also provided expert witness testimony related to project litigation.

Mr. Strickler has developed, conducted and managed numerous large-scale drilling and sampling programs, including remedial investigations completed under state and federal scrutiny. He was responsible for the design, installation, and testing of an in situ reactive treatment well array that utilized zero-valent iron to remove volatile organic compounds from groundwater. He has worked conducting hydrogeologic field testing to determine aquifer hydraulic properties used in the evaluation of groundwater supply, surface water/groundwater interaction, and contaminant fate and transport studies. In addition, he has conducted geologic field mapping and geophysical surveys to locate and delineate metallic ore bodies in the western United States.

SELECTED PROJECT EXPERIENCE

Solid Waste

Project manager responsible for all phases of environmental issues at several southern Oregon landfills including regulatory communication and negotiation, site characterization, database management, laboratory data validation, statistical database analyses, graphics, and all aspects of reporting.
Managed and performed geologic and hydrogeologic services at numerous municipal solid waste landfills in southern Oregon. Activities included drilling and installation of monitoring wells, coordinating seismic and electromagnetic geophysical surveys, determination of aquifer properties using variable head tests and packer tests, groundwater sampling, data tabulation and interpretation, and report preparation.
Project manager for several landfill sites with domestic well contamination related to landfill impacts. Responsible for managing communication and meetings between affected well owners, municipal personnel, and regulatory personnel.
Geologist responsible for large scale core drilling project to define and delineate contaminant fracture flow in granitic rock. Project responsibilities included aquifer testing with single and double inflatable packer systems.
Geologist in charge of landfill gas extraction well installation at several southern Oregon landfills. Responsible for entire field programs and safety issues related to solid waste drilling.

Industrial Facilities

Project geologist responsible for all aspects of a phase two site characterization and remedial investigation under state guidelines at a helicopter repair and maintenance facility in southern Oregon. Tasks included reconnaissance groundwater sampling with single and double packer systems, monitoring well design and construction, variable head aquifer testing, sediment sampling, soil sampling, groundwater sampling, data tabulation and interpretation, sampling and analyses plan preparation, beneficial use studies, and report preparation.
Project geologist responsible for management coordination, and construction of a reactive treatment well array installed at a helicopter maintenance facility in southern Oregon. Responsibilities included project management, construction oversight, data tabulation and report preparation.
Project geologist responsible for well design and installation of a multi-well recovery and treatment system for volatile organic compound impacted groundwater at a manufacturing facility in Albany, Oregon.
Performed phase one environmental site assessments and compliance audits at dozens of sites in the western United States. Projects have included vacant land, forest land, residential, agricultural, commercial properties, and former and active industrial facilities.

Petroleum Industry

Completed phase one and two site characterization for bulk fuel facilities in Oregon and California. Responsibilities included monitoring well design and construction, groundwater and soil sampling, data tabulation and interpretation, and report preparation.
Developed and conducted drilling and sampling programs to fill data gaps for risk based site closures. Responsible for all aspects of risk-based closure report preparation as well as all regulatory negotiation and communication. Received risk-based closures on numerous sites with residual hydrocarbon contamination.
Organized, coordinated, and documented underground storage tank removal activities, soil and groundwater sampling, source testing for vapor extraction potential, design and construction of above and below ground active vapor extraction systems, data tabulation and interpretation, and report preparation.
Organized, coordinated, and directed remedial cleanup of petroleum-impacted soil stockpiled in a residential area. Conducted a beneficial use evaluation of domestic water wells.
Coordinated and conducted collection of sediment and tissue samples to determine potential impacts to marine organisms and human health related to a bulk metallic ore transfer facility in Coos Bay, Oregon.

Forest Products Industry

Performed geologic services at wood-treatment sites. Project responsibilities included monitoring well design and construction oversight, direct push sampling and well installation, variable head aquifer testing, groundwater sampling, data tabulation and interpretation, and report preparation.
Project manager responsible for all phases of site characterization at several former lumber mill facilities. Designed, conducted, and managed field programs. Responsible for all aspects of reporting, regulatory negotiation and communication, and client contact.
Project manager for a direct push drilling and sampling characterization program at a wood treating facility in Coos Bay Oregon. Responsible for soil and groundwater data collection, data interpretation, report preparation, and regulatory communication and negotiation.
Managed and conducted a direct push sampling program to delineate a solvent plume at an active plywood mill. Responsible for all data collection, reporting, and client and regulatory communication.
